Start Now: The Endless Possibilities of Dreaming

I am excited to announce that I am a new member of the God Sized Dreams writing team! Not familiar with God Sized Dreams? It is an incredible blog shared twice a week dedicated to encouraging anyone who has a dream on their heart, and is looking for a supportive community! No dream is to too big or too small. Needless to say, I am honored to be one of the newest writers for this community that has encouraged me for so long.

Today on the blog I am sharing about starting your dream. For the past few months life has definitely taught me about new beginnings. While in Ghana, I even learned that Ashesi, the name of the university I visited, means beginning. So cool! Beginnings  can be so challenging, yet so freeing at the same time. When we see the door opening for our dream, we have to prayerfully walk through it.

Except we allow things to hold us back. Our thoughts are filled with doubts, we listen to others who try to hold us back, or we feel that we want to wait for a better time – the perfect time.

I learned that there is no better time than today. So we must start now. Where we are. Which is why I love the above quote so much!

Join me at God Sized Dreams for the full post.

To New Beginnings,

Stacy

Book Review of Gratitude: A Prayer & Praise Coloring Journal

Book Review of Gratitude: A Prayer & Praise Coloring Journal

Hey Ya’ll! It’s time for another Book Review for Tyndale House Publishing! If you missed last week’s review of 365 Pocket Morning Prayers, you can find it here

This week’s book review is pretty special in that it is a Prayer and Praise Coloring Journal focused on gratitude, published by Tyndale House Publishers. It combines my favorite loves – spaces to journal prayers/thoughts to the Lord, and lots of amazing images to color. Scripture and words of encouragement are shared throughout the journal. In addition to great images to color, there are also pages where you get to draw something yourself based on the prompt. Some pages are already colored in by the publisher – this made it less daunting for me, but might not be desirable for those of you who are coloring pros!

I specifically like that I can skip around throughout the pages – there’s no need to go in order, just do what I feel that day. I love that I can set it down and pick it back up again when I need some refreshing. There is a mix of intricate designs as well as simple designs (see tulips below). I like this because I can never seem to finish coloring the intricate designs in one sitting. I have some travel coming up, so I definitely plan to take this along with me! The size is perfect for travel – and did I mention it has a hardback cover?! LOVE IT!

This prayer and praise coloring journal provides a unique way to connect with God. This is a fairly new process for me, so I was a little hesitant a first. I am still learning to embrace a new way of connecting with God through art, and I love it. If you are looking for something fresh and new for your quiet time to switch it up, I definitely recommend this book – which also makes a great gift!

I have included a few pictures in the slide show below. Enjoy! Looking for some ideas? Check out Tyndale’s Inspire Creativity Pinterest Board. You can also go to Tyndale’s Living Expressions Collection for related items such as other coloring journals and journaling Bibles.

I received a copy of this book from Tyndale House Publishers in order to complete a review.

A Heart of Forgiveness and Gratitude

The past week has been challenging to say the least. Friday night while heading home my cell phone was snatched out of my hands by someone who took off into the night. Over the past week I have experienced so many emotions: shock, anger, fear, frustration, hypervigilance …you name it. Thankfully I wasn’t hurt. Though it was a material possession that is replaceable while my life isn’t, there was still the feeling of being violated that lingered. Needless to say I am being challenged and stretched and learning many lessons.

Sometimes you have to sit with Jesus and let him hold you when you have no words to say. The beauty of it all is that He loves for us to be present and sit with Him. He is our greatest Comforter in times of need. His presence alone brings power and healing. His presence supersedes anything words could ever say. I am so grateful that the Holy Spirit that intercedes for me on my behalf. (Romans 8:26)

Sometimes your friends will give you wise counsel that you just don’t want to hear in the moment. Pray for them, forgive them, and give the situation to Jesus. Take their advice. I am thankful that God has surrounded me with mighty prayer warriors who challenge me to grow, give wise counsel and don’t just tell me what I want to hear. (Proverbs 19:20)

Sometimes in order to show forgiveness and grace to those who hurt you, you might need more help from God than you would like to admit. Turning the other cheek is not easy, but God never said it would be. I am so grateful that God understands and is willing to guide me by the hand to have a heart of forgiveness. I am grateful for the reminder that I, too, am forgiven. (Ephesians 4:32)

And sometimes it takes all you have to express that your heart really doesn’t want to forgive – and to ask God to change your heart anyway. I am thankful that He is willing and able to give me a heart of flesh instead of heart of stone so that I can love more like Him. (Ezekiel 26:36)

In case you need a reminder this week, God is loyal. When the enemy of this world steals, kills, and destroys, God gives us life more abundantly (John 10:10). God works ALL THINGS together for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). In Christ we are no longer victims, but we fight from a place of VICTORY (1 Corinthians 15:57). When you are feeling wronged, the Word is a great place to hang out. And sometimes it helps to pray in color at 2 am in the morning. 🙂
